Wentworth Castle Gardens, South Yorkshire has an 1885 Glasshouse which was the first Glasshouse in Europe to be light by electricity. It has had national interest and appeared on TV a few times but in recent years it has been laid dormant with failed attempts to raise the funds for its restoration….until recently.
Through English Heritage and other national and European funding the project of restoring the Glasshouse was given the green light.
Initially taken on-board as a personal project to document the process both on and off site of this structure various parties involved became interested in these images.
Over 2500 images were taken over a 14month period of which 1000 images made the final edit. Of those 100o we selected about 130 images in this gallery to depict what was captured and documented for history.
The purposeful documenting of an event, story and even business becomes more important, as photography becomes more powerful over the passing of time.
